I've had this blog for a few days now. Absence of time and absence of a clear sense of what this blog is going to be for, have made me a tad apprehensive. So my boyfriend suggested I just wrote in it and see what comes out of it.
I'm working on a piece of writing at the moment which is intreging me. This is mainly because I don't really know where it is going, though where its gone so far is interesting. I call it a piece of writing because it is part poetry ,part prose and part found text. I am seeing it more as a collage which has a mood, theme or general atmosphere. It currently incorporates third person narrative about Martin Luther posting his 95 Theses, extracts from his hymn 'When God is on our side' and poetry exploring righteous action, religious truth and what it can sometimes lead to. It's working title is 'Fires of Truth'.
I've been reading a couple of books about Fundamentalism in Judaism/Christianity and Islam by Karen Armstrong. Currently I'm reading a book by her on the history of Islam. So the whole area of being fired up by ones religious belief is becoming a central topic in my reading these days. How much this reflects on my own current spiritual torpor as a Buddhist is something I haven't looked into. I'm not sure it would be that good an idea,as this process I'm working through is pretty slow and seems to consist of following a thread of interest till it reveals its meaning.
