WATCHED - Forgiveness, Loneliness & Parenting Truths - The Sacred Q & A.

 

Stepping briefly outside the usual Sacred format, to take questions from viewers, produces this really interesting wide ranging programme, Elizabeth Oldfield is her usual frank and open self, with her Producer Joe Downy providing a useful counterpoint. This certainly touches on a few areas I resonated with. Such as why in a spiritual community purity of ideology or one person becoming beyond questioning, is a bad thing. Realise you are living in a bubble, how do you break out of it? Why no church or spiritual group is perfect, and why its better if it is infuriating in its imperfections. Lots of pokey issues, to get you thinking. 

PODCAST - Seen & Unseen - Re Enchanting Politics

 I've watched a few series of this podcast, and they do have quite interesting guests from Christian and non Christian backgrounds. whilst its central concerns and solutions offered can be Christian, there is often a really interesting rootling about in the issues, as they do on this one. An interview with Luke Bretherton -  theologian and author of books entitled - Christianity & Contemporary Politics - Resurrecting Democracy.  He is so clear on why we need democracy, the role of our faith,whatever form it takes, and the dangers when religions gets co opted by a political party. This is a good one for right now.
