Many years ago, in the late eighties I was doing a performance art piece, called Leather Upper Man Made Soul. In it I used a couple of pieces of music, one a Latin American instrumental by Tito Puente, and another a Bulgarian Orthodox mournful hymn sung in a very deep Basso Profundo. I have not as yet relocated that piece. But here is a selection from You Tube, that gives you a feel for the other worldly power of this music. That remains quite astonishing in its ability to draw you in. Its probably the most sacred sounding music you can encounter.
